New Year's special food

Hi! Nice to see you! Have you hear of Osechi? Osechi is traditional cuisine in Japan. Many kinds of foods are placed beautifully in boxes which are piled up. It is prepared to celebrate coming of New Year. Also each of foods has special meaning.

Osechi was born one thousand years ago. Most families prepare Osechi wishing their family’s happiness and prosperity because New Year’s Day has the greatest significance in Japan. All foods are cooked in order not to go bad, so women don’t have to cook during New Year’s holiday. In this point, I think the purpose of preparing Osechi is same as that of making banh chung in Vietnam. Each of osechi’s components represents special meanings. Here I will show you some of them.

Kamaboko: a steamed fish paste. Its color is red and white.
It stands for sunrise. Red and white are traditional New Year's color.

Ebi: steamed shrimp.
It represents longevity because the shrimp curves when it is heated and people wish that they can live until they become bent with age.

Kazunoko: a salted herring roe
It represents the prosperity of their families.

Osechi is essential for New Years’ celebration in Japan, and every one loves it.

How about Vietnam? Does your country have any traditional food especially for New Years’ celebration?

Japanese table manner

I would like to introduce Japanese table manner. We also use chopsticks but there are many rules way to eat different from Vietnam. There are three parts. At first, I will tell you how to eat rice. Second, I will tell you how to use chopsticks. Finally, I will tell you my memories in childhood.

Almost of all the Japanese eat rice. However, people which eat only bread or other food not rice are increasing. We empty our dishes to the last grain of rice. “The eyes of us who are careless with rice (or left rice) are crushed”. This tradition means such as the children lose their mind which consider important all things. So, I always eat all a grin of rice. If you can’t eat a lot amount of rice, choice only your portion which you can eat.

In Japan, there are a number of manner of chopsticks. Sashibashi means that way to eat by sticking my chopsticks into food. The other manner is Watashibashi. This is placing my chopsticks across the rim of dish before finishing a meal so we use a chopstick rest or use fold a chopstick envelop like real. It’s a signal that you finish dishes.

I was often warned about manner during dinner by my mother when I was child. “You don’t rest you elbows on the table, don’t sit with your knee drawn up, eat having a bowl and don’t eat foods with your mouth open, my mother said to me.” Vietnamese also use chopsticks, don’t you? Therefore Japanese manner may be alike with Vietnamese manner but there are the opposite manners too. When you come to Japan, you would better to search about Japanese manner. You will be able to enjoy a trip to Japan.

Japanese honeymoon

Most of the Japanese newly married couples go to honeymoon. After wedding, they go to honeymoon for several days. I looked at HIS’s homepage and learned that where couples went on honeymoon and how much couples spent money for honeymoon. I realized the most of the couples had chosen Hawaii and Tahiti. I think that they would like to spend slow time on honeymoon, and they would like to relax there. Therefore, many couples spend a lot of money for honeymoon. The Average money for Japanese honeymoon is about 560,000 yen. They also spend about 100,000 yen for souvenir. Most of couples buy souvenirs for people who gave money at wedding. They have sweet time on honeymoon!! If I go to honeymoon, I will take a round-the-world trip. I can’t choose one place! I want to go to Europe, Australia, Hawaii and Canada. When I go to honeymoon, I want to see world heritage sites in the world and I want to eat traditional foods in the world. Therefore, I must earn a lot of money in the future. Do you want to go honeymoon?

Udon

Udon

Udon is a type of thick wheat-flour noodle. It is eaten with noodle soup. The soup is seasoned with seaweed and bonito’s soup. The taste is salty. Udon has various kinds each region. Udon can be eaten hot or cold and can be cooked in many ways. Tempura Udon, Curry Udon and Kamaage Udon are popular.

Curry Udon is prepared by placing warm Udon in a bowl and covering it with hot curry sauce. Some restaurants try to create unique flavors by blending the curry sauce and the broth
Kamaage Udon’s way of eat is that place hot Udon in a bowl and pour some of the boiled water from the cook pot. Simply dip Udon in spiced dipping sauce before eating.

Osechi

Osechi is a Japanese traditional food. It is eaten on New Year Day. This tradition started in Heian Period. Foods are packed into jubako, like lunch boxes. Eating Osechi has a meaning to celebrate the New Year Day.
The dishes that make up osechi have a special meaning to celebrate the New Year Day, for example, Daidai, Japanese bitter orange. Daidai means “from generation to generation” when written in another kanji. Konbu, a kind of seaweed, it is associated with the word “yorokobu” meaning joy.
This custom of celebrating the New Year Day was produced from China long years ago, but recently, there are not so many people who make Osechi. Many people buy Osechi at super market, even at convenience store. Although many of young people do not make Osechi at house, my grandmother and I make Osechi every year because I think homemade is the best.
Japanese people have been celebrating the New Year Day with eating Osechi. Then, how about your country? Do you celebrate with some special foods?

Japanese wedding reception

I introduced about Japanese wedding reception. My essay is organized this way: first, the hall; second, the expense; third, the monetary gift; forth, the present given to guests at a wedding reception.
In the first area, I introduced about the hall. Japanese often hold in a hotel or wedding hall. We invite our relatives and our friends. The number is about 80 people. In rural area, a bride and groom invite many people, about 100 people. At the area, they tend to hold by many people. Recently, modern reception halls for young people are theme parks or popular restaurants.
In the second area, I introduced about the expense. It costs great expense to a reception in Japan, about 2,800,000 yen. The total of their expenses come to about 25,000 yen apiece.
In the third area, I introduced about the monetary gift. An invitee brings about 30,000 yen. The participants hand over these monetary gifts to a front desk clerk before start a wedding reception.
In the forth area, I introduced about the present given to guests at a wedding reception. A bride and groom give gorgeously dishes and catalogue gifts (the guests can chose at the catalogue gifts). Recently they give sweets on which their photograph or illustration are printed once in a while!
In my essay, I introduced about Japanese wedding reception. What do you think of this reception style?

Self-introduction

Hi. My name is Naruyuki Kimura, and I'm a student of Nagoya university of foreign studies. My hobby is playing guitar, and I have my band. We play our song. Do you know myspace? If it's so, please check "Heatstrokes" on it. There is my photo and my song. I'm looking forward to your comments.

Japanese breakfast

Traditional Japanese breakfast is a well-balanced diet that consists of rice, miso soup, grilled fish, natto, nori, tamagoyaki and so on. Natto is fermented soy beans. Place the natto on top of steamed rice and eat with rice. Nori is edible seaweed, sometimes called laver.
Japanese breakfast is changing and people who eat traditional Japanese breakfast are decreasing. Some Japanese people eat bread, cereal, yoghurt, milk and soup. In my case, I eat bread every morning.
Traditional Japanese breakfast is a healthy desh, but it takes long time to make it. We can eat bread faster than rice. Therefore, many Japanese people eat bread, cereal and so on.
Recently, young Japanese people that do not have breakfast are increasing. That is a serious problem. If you do not have a breakfast, your brain does not work. It is good for your body to have a breakfast.
Breakfast is important to us. What do Vietnamese eat for breakfast?

About japanese tea, Matcha

ABOUT JAPANESE TEA, MATCHA

Matcha refers to finely-milled Japanese green tea. In modern times, matcha has also come to be used to flavor and dye foods such as mochi and soba noodles, green tea ice cream and a variety of wagashi.

About differences: between GREEN TEA and MATCHA. Matcha is powder of bud of tea. On the other hand, green tea is steamed and dried, and shape of tea’s leafs are kept.

It is very tasty and healthy, so it is drunk by many people in Japan. Matcha is very traditional drink in of Japan, and it is often eaten with Japanese- style cakes.

When we make Matcha, we use a sieve and a special wooden spatula. A sieve is used in order to break up clumps. There are special sieves available for this purpose, which are usually stainless steel and combine a fine wire mesh sieve and a temporary storage container. A special wooden spatula is used to force the tea through the sieve, or a small, smooth stone may be placed on top of the sieve and the device shaken gently.

Matcha is now a common ingredient in sweets. It is also used as flavoring in many Western-style chocolates, candy, and desserts, such as cakes and pastries including Swiss rolls and cheesecake, cookies, pudding, mousse, and green tea ice cream. I really like sweets that are tasted with Matcha, so I often eat many sweets of Matcha taste.

Japanese marriage

There are an engagement ring and a wedding ring in Japan. People say that the price of the engagement ring is estimated to be three months of the salary. Actually, the amount of the average purchase of the ring is about 374,000 yen. In other words, an average price of the ring is from 300,000 to 400,000 yen in present Japan. On the other hand, the price of the wedding ring is about 228,000 yen. In short, an average price of the ring is from 150,000 to 250,000 yen in general. I think that people who get married need not choose the ring by a general price. The important thing is the person's feelings. In Vietnam, are there an engagement ring and a wedding ring? If there are the rings, how much do people who get married pay to them?

Japanese noodle
I am going to introduce about Japanese noodle. When Japanese eat noodle, Japanese use chopsticks. When Japanese eat noodle, some Japanese add some seasonings in the soup, for example, pepper, spicy oil used to season Chinese food, and so on. It is a bad manner to eat it making a sound.
There are two types of noodle in Japan. One is hand making, another is instant. In case of all hand making, at first, cooks boils noodle, and then they make a soup. After making a soup, pour the soup.
Japanese usually eat at Ramen restaurants because they can eat it hot, but there are lots kinds of instant noodles in Japan, and their tastes are really good, so recently they tend to eat at their house.
Noodle came from China to Japan in 1870, but they did not be familiar in Japan then, because tastes were not like now. After soon, tastes have changed the kind of tastes Japanese like. I have just finished introducing about Japanese noodle. How about Vietnam’s Noodle? Could you tell me about it?

Hitsumabushi

In this article, I want to write about Hitumabusi, a specialty food of my hometown, Aichi prefecture. It is in “ohitsu” which is Japanese container and we eat it mix rice and grilles eel. “Hitumabushi” means “ohitsu” and Japanese “mabusu” in English is “mix”. It is also called “Hitumamushi” because “Mamushi” means rice of eel in dialect of Kansai. Thus, Hitumabushi is a kind of a bowl of rice and has 3 ways to eat so I wish you could enjoy eating Hitumabushi more with my article.
Skin of broiled eel is savory, and fish is soft because broiled eel is baked without steaming just as it is. In some restaurant, there are resources which eggs like cotton yarn is spread all over under broiled eels. It is also a good. In the beginning, Hitumabushi was in the bowl of “Setomono” which is made of soil kneaded and burned. But after delivery, when young boy just like part time worker collected it, they often broke it, so it is changed “ohitsu” which is soiled and big.
Slice of eel existed in period which had no raising of fish in Hamamatsu (Shizuoka) and Tsu (Mie) and natural eel had unevenness of quality so small eel couldn’t be served. As a result, slices of bad eel were eaten as boiled rice with tea poured over it or board of worker. It is also said that “Hitsumabushi” may be originating that.
Finally, I want to introduce 3 ways to eat. Firstly, you should cut rice crosswise with “Shamoji”which is a tool we use when fill a bowl with rice. After that, you eat with this 3 ways.
1. Firstly, you fill a bowl with rice and eat it just as it is.
2. Next, you fill a bowl with rice again and put spices which are wasabi, laver, mitsuba, and so on. Spices which are long green onion, wasabi, and laver. These are basis and suit eel very well. You taste these changes of flavor with enjoying.
3. You pour soup stock or green tea on rice like 2 and eat like boiled rice with tea poured over it. How to this eat is also said to be designed to eat bad eel deliciously.
4. Finally, you eat your most favorite way.

They put miso sauce over the tonkatsu, where everywhere else just uses regular tonkatsu sauce. I wish you could enjoy eating Misokatsu more with my article.

Misokatsu is a kind of tonkatsu. The katsu seasoned with soybean paste is put on the rice. When you have it for the first time, you will be surprised at the color of the katsu. They are colored by the soybean paste and the flavor also is the soybean paste. Misokatsu was made by a man, Yoshio Suzuki, in 1947. One day, he put miso sause on the tonkatsu because he was tired of the tonkatsu. He liked it and recommended his friends it. It became popular in Nagoya.

Misokatsu was used pork and miso sause. It fried pork, seasoned with soybean paste. It has many varieties for example, Misokatsudon, kusikatsu and bake iron plate.

It is very popular in Nagoya. Some people make it at their house. I often eat it at Yabaton and Yabaton is a specially store for the misokatsu. Tourists go to the store and eat it. I wish Misokatsu would become more popular and more and more people learn about Nagoya.

My favorite TV commercial

My favorite commercial is insurance office of Nissay on television. In this advertisement, beautiful girl cheers up a Japanese worker everywhere. I think this ad has two attractions!
First, the ad is so cute. You see a beautiful girl who is a Japanese actress. Her name is a Haruka Ayase. Second, the ad is finding. Most of Japanese people work overtime. I do not know when the accidents occur. Therefore, I think that it is necessary for Japanese worker to enter insurance. During the most of the ad, you feel happy!! However, at the end of the ad, you see a catch phrase, “Support future”. It means that you should enter insurance and you should protect your future. In conclusion, the ad makes us happy!!

An impressive ad for Heineken

There are a large number of advertisements. Recentry, I met an impressive advertisement for Heineken on television. First of all, it is amusing. You see a woman letting her friends into a room. She opened its door, and there were many clothes and shoes. Ladies screamed for joy. However, more loudly shriek is heard from another room. In the room, really many Hineken were kept closely. Three men go into raptures. It shows how much Hineken is loved by men. It exceeds the ladies' enthusiasm for clothes and accessories. Also audiences can not realise what dose this CM advertise for, which has audiences be attracted. I think this ad is elaborated and effective for arouse customer interest.

TV commercial for Tsukete-miso Kakete-miso

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmfOpMrZFLMHi! I will introduce my favorite TV commercial. When I was a child, I saw TV commercial for Tsukete-miso Kakete-miso on television. But now, I can not see this TV commercial on television probably. I like this TV commercial very much two girls are very cute and I like miso. I like fish, meat, or vegetables cooked with miso. When I saw this TV commercial, I wanted to eat miso. This TV commercial is funny. Two girls appear and have miso which is Tsukete-miso Kakete-miso with their hands. They put on very nice and cute aprons and hair ornaments. They dip miso on various foods. For example there are a Tofu, a cutlet, a Japanese white radish and an eggplant which was broiled. They are absorbed in miso. They seems happily and eating miso with great relish. I think that it is an appetizing TV commercial. I hope that you watch this my favorite TV commercial. I think that you like it.

TV commercial for Pachinko ‘Concorde’

I recently saw an effective advertisement. It was the shiftless TV commercial. I chose this Japanese commercial massage ‘Amusement planet Concorde’. This is a CM of Japanese upright pinball ‘Pachinko’ in Japanese. First, 3 office workers appear on screen. They feel strangely dull and dance a lengthy. But, they are having nothing to do with Pachinko shops and Pachinko shops do not appear. When I see this CM at morning I feel strangely dull. It is strictly for the birds and TV wearied me with the commercial, however it was an unforgettable CM for me and it made a great impact on me. I thought that Concorde’s CM appeared recession-hit business in Japan and 3 women lost their hope. The Pachinko shop received grand prizes of commercial in Shizuoka, Japan.

TV commercial for Nissan NOTE

Recently I saw a very interesting commercial for Nissan NOTE on television. First, the commercial is funny and enjoyable. This commercial consists of animation with funny picture. The characters are based on Japanese animation, “Heidi, Girl of the Alps”, and it is enjoyed as “Teinenpi-shoujo Heidi” in the commercial. There are four main characters in it, Heidi, Clara, Alm-Onji and Peter. The scenes are comical. Second, the commercial is very rhythmical. Characters are dancing with a parody song of “Can’t Undo This!!” While you are watching the commercial you are able to understand what the animation means, but at the end of this commercial you hear Onji shout “Teinenpi NOTE―――!!!!!” and see Nissan NOTE running. It is very memorable, so I mean if you see this commercial once, you want to see it again and you will get interested in the product.

My favorite commercial

My favorite TV commercial is Japanese tea of Suntory. This tea is easy to drink so it’s good taste. I think you understand not only the tea but also Japanese culture.

This commercial change spring, summer, autumn and winter so you will be able to know about seasons of Japan. There are a man called “Iemon” and a woman who wear kimono. A man is a tea maker and a woman is his wife. He is always working to make a good tea but his wife is very kind. In spring, she gives Japanese sweets made cherry leaf and tea to him. In summer, they went to a little stream of river because she wanted to forget him about his works sometimes. However, he drinks a water of river and thinks to make a better tea. In autumn, they go to feel the leaves of autumn. She came to have rice boiled with chestnuts of Japan and tea. In winter, she is making two snowmen so she is look like cold. Then he gave a hot tea of orange color cap to her. It was first time, I think she was happy and became hot mind by hot tea. YouTube of Iemon.

If you watch this you tube, you will be able to understand Japanese seasons. Then you will think to want to drink Japanese tea! They wear Japanese kimono. In Kyoto, you can look like this style. I like this commercial so I recommend this.

NISSAN NOTE

I recently saw a very effective advertisement for NISSAN NOTE on television. This TV commercial is interesting. It is an animation that burlesques “Heidi”. The animation’s name is “The World of GOLDEN EGGS”. It is a popular animation in Japan recently. This animation collaborates with NISSAN NOTE. The main character Heidi wants to know about “teinenpi”. Teinepi means that a car is very economical on gas. The merit of NOTE is teinenpi.
Heidi and Clara are dancing and singing very cheerfully. They are singing about teinenpi.
I think this commercial give us a strong impact and easy to understand about good points and teinenpi.

I found interesting advertisements for a game. She is a Japanese talent and the advertisements are two situations. First story is that she bought the game “TETRIS” for herself on her birthday. She became enthusiastic about playing it and she couldn’t notice that her best friends came and celebrate her surprisingly. Second story is that she decided to play it only once, but she concentrated and played it all night. She forgot her work and the TV program that she was supposed to appear had already started.
These commercial said when you start to play TETRIS once, you can’t stop it and can’t do anything else. I think these have humor because they play the music you hear when you play TETRIS.

TV commercial for SIENTA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVskwbnbMUE&feature=related

Many advertisements were put on TV. I recommend you to see this TV commercial for SIENTA. SIENTA is a car produced by TOYOTA. First, it made me warm feelings. A mother and her son appear. They are singing a song happily in SIENTA. They enjoy that time. Second, it is a cute advertisement. Many handwriting animals appear. For instance, yellow frogs, blue loaches and pink dolphins. They are colorful. Third, the song that the mother and her son are singing remain in our brain. This song is cheerful. You are tempted to sing the song. This TV commercial tell you that it is precious to have a good time with parents and child, spending this happy time with SIENT is happier. A memory in childhood is precious.

My Favorite CM

I like Fanata CM. Japanese CM of Fanta is very funny. There are some strange teachers in the school. They are unique characters. I think I want to study in the school. First, if you saw the CM once, would remember it. It is a drink commercial but its content is very unique. Second, I think relationship between teachers and students is interesting. Students of the school cannot keep up with their pace. Third, the summer vacation was postponed for 15 days. The principal is also unique character. The first time I saw the commercial, I laughed. If you were interested in Fanta’s commercial, I want you to see it.

The 1000th anniversary "Thang Long - Ha Noi"

As you know, Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam. It has just celebrated its 1000th anniversary. As far as I’m concerned, there are a few capitals that have a long history like this.
My article will begin with the brief history of Hanoi from the beginning till now. Nobody knows when Hanoi set up, however it has been always a prosperous land. After the “Đinh” Dynasty ended, “Lý Công Uẩn”, a head general of Đinh army, was voted to be the King named “Lý Thái Tổ”. Once when he took a trip to his hometown, he came across “Đại La” – Hanoi now. Therefore, in 1010, he decided to move the capital from “Hoa Lư” to “Đại La”. This was because “Hoa Lư” was mountainous while “Đại La” was a huge plain region that suitably extended. It is said that he saw a dragon flying into the air in his trip around “Bán Nguyệt” (half-moon) Lake – Sword Lake now, so immediately he named ‘Đại La” after “Thăng Long” (dragon flying). Later, the “Trần” Dynasty, the “Lê” Dynasty chose “Thăng Long” as their capital. Some dynasty chose different land the capital. It was until 1945 when Vietnam officially established that President “Hồ Chí Minh” chose Hanoi as the capital of Vietnam up to now. Hanoi has many different names through different periods of time such as “Đông Quan”, “Đông Kinh”, “Đông Đô”, “Tràng An”.
The 1000th anniversary “Thăng Long – Hà Nội” were just celebrated from 1 to 10 October (10/10 is the Independent day of Hanoi from the French army) with so many interesting activities. All streets were beautifully decorated with colorful neon and symbols of Hanoi. Chinese lanterns were hung in some streets in the Old Quarter. Lotuses (artificial) were, too.
There are some photos following of Hanoi during this time

TV commercial for hot tea.

It’s a very cute and seasonal ad. Products are hot tea. Main character is Yu Aoi. She is a famous actress in Japan. She and other actors dance and sing with hold products in this ad. It looks like a musical. We can know how good and how the taste is the product, but when I see this ad, I want to buy the product. Because it is very seasonable, in winter, we want to drink something hot, so this ad appeal Yu Aoi, and excite will to purchase. Furthermore, this ad said that about campaign that we can get scarf.

My favorite TV commercial "Iemon"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=by-ahl5RHcM&NR=1

My favorite TV commercial is “Iemon.” “Iemon” is a kind of green tea produced in Kyoto. First, this commercial is advertising the culture of Japan and describing the past world of Kyoto. It shows nostalgic world of Kyoto. Second, the back ground music is cool. The producer wants us to feel the good points of Japan by using Japanese traditional music instrument. Green tea has been drunk for long years in Japan. Third, costumes are interesting. Kimono or hair style shows us Japanese cultural features. Kimono is Japanese traditional clothes, but I hardly see someone wearing Kimono nowadays. In addition, this TV commercial changes every season because Japanese think that four seasons are important. To conclude, this TV commercial is attractive because you can feel Japanese traditional culture not only by watching but also by listening. It means Japanese culture is loved by many people still now.

TV commercial for chocolates for adults with hello kitty

I recently saw interesting and pretty advertisement for chocolates on television. First, the ad is so cute. You see a grown hello kitty in NY. Rie Miyazawa played kitty. She tried to do her best to grant her dream. The scenes are very interesting. Second, the ad is surprising because hello kitty had an audition in NY. Hello kitty is already heroin all over the world. When you see the hello kitty, you might think you have to do your best for everything. Finally the ad is impressive. Still end of the ad, you don’t know what product is being advertised. However, at the end of the ad, you know an intention of this ad. It means that you are growing day by day. In conclusion, the ad is effective because you keep watching it until the end and you remember it later.

TV commercial for Softbank

I recently saw a very effective advertisement for Softbank on television. First, the ad is funny. You see a family including a dog in Hakone. The dog is father. They go trip and grandmother says “I’ll have a husband and he’ll be your father or grandfather.” Second, a man comes in the room and he is very young and cool. He is younger than father. The father opposes the marriage but the daughter doesn’t oppose. Finally, the father admits the marriage because a member of family discount will increase. The ad is trifling but people gaze. However, at the end of the ad, you see a catch phrase, “You should give grandmother a cell phone on Respect for the Aged Day.” It means that old man can use the cell phone easily. In conclusion, the ad is effective because you keep watching it until the end and you remember it later.

Japanese Cell Phone Advetisement
i was suprised when i saw these advertisements for DOCOMO which is famous cell phone company in Japan. First, the most famous actor in Japan, Ken Watanabe, appears in this advertisement. He seldom appears in most advertisement. Second, his role is not good. He is waiting on the bench in the rain. his partner seems pity. Finally, he co-star with Darth Vader. it is the most suprising thng, but it is very funny. In conclusion, above mentioned, it is really suprising for me. it gave us big impact.

Advertising
Nowadays, advertising is actually popular and necessary for everyone and every company. Many companies want to sell more and more products, so they use advertising. Advertising appears everywhere, such as, on TV, on newspaper, internet, even if a long the streets. It’s an easy thing to customers can find out more information about products they need. Recently, on TV has an interested advertising which makes me like so much. This is Sunsilk shampoo’s advertising. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_yv4bsXvTY&p=704123E0E33D89ED&playnext=1&index=11 In this ad, I see a beautiful girl. I recognize that she is , a famous singer. She is walking on the street with long shining hair. All of people look at her with admiring eyes. Advertisers are really smart and creative. They know how to attract customers with sound, music and picture in their advertising. Especially, they can invite famous people to help them advertise for products. This is an exciting advertising, so I think it will convince a lot of customers to buy Sunsilk shampoo. The message of this ad wants to send to customers “let always use Sunsilk shampoo in order to have long shining hair”. Now, I’m using this shampoo and I really like it. Sunsilk shampoo-a friend for your hair.

Knorr soup

There are a lot of interesting advertisements I have seen recently. I mainly watch these ads on TV. Among these ads I really like the Knorr soup ad. This ad is simple but impressed me. It tells about a happy couple. The wife is cooking meal for her husband. She is cooking fish dish. Normally, to cook this dish, people need some spicies such as salts, soup, color water, and ''nuoc mam" is a kind of catchup that made from fish, and so on.But with Knorr soup, she does'nt need other things. Moreover, her fish dish is very delicious. She and her husband have a happy dinner together. I like ad because of many things. First, it give a solution for a problem. Cooking a meal is easier, quicker, more delicious. The emotional appeal that advertiser used is ego. This makes housewives feel cooking more interesting.

Merino cream by Vũ Hoài Sơn.

I like watching TV so I watch a lot of ads on TV. And certainly one thing that  I don’t like to watch them when I am watching a film. But I special like ads about Merino cream because I like cream. It’s a funny and interesting ad about four types cream: gram cream, red-pea cream, taro cream and durian cream. Each cream kind is a taste and a personality such as, gram cream “yummy”, red-pea cream “cool”, durian cream “active”, taro cream “funny”.
I like that ad  because it is very ego. In addition I like eating cream special Merino taro cream. After watching that ad, I think many people will like and buy that cream.

advertising

In today’s society when there is a tendency of globalization and international cooperation among countries. Our life standard is very high and our need of selling and buying has been increasing very fast, too. So, how to attract the users and customers, the companies have had many ways to attract and stimulate the customers by advertising. They always know how to create and innovate them in order to be successful in selling their products.
Indeed, we could be seen and heard many advertisements through mass medias (televisions, radios, telephones, internet… ) or newspapers, magazines, leaflets etc. sometimes, the products was advertised through the advertising poster at some public places such as railway stations, airports, bus stops or cinemas so on. Many companies choose the mass media to advertise for its popularity.
Each of the days, there are a lot of products are advertised many times on the TV, internet so on such as: shampoo, clothes, medicine, household equipments. These ads are very impressive and attractive watchers and listeners. They were shown time after time in a day. They also were performed by famous models, singers or actors to affirm their company’s brand and have very firm belief from customers. Furthermore, languages are very easy and impressive to understand and remember even children. For instance: a beautiful song for “ZIN ZIN” milk advertising in Viet Nam. All above reasons are to answer for question “Why do you remember the ads?”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLfNT-BT1po&p=CE5B77B5F56F24BA&playnext=1&index=12
Although the ads sometimes make people feel uncomfortable and boring. Especially, they are watching or listening their favorite films and sports. Nevertheless, by the impressive and their creation and innovation I still believe that the ads will encourage people in buying the products because people’s character is curious and they always wish to make them more beautiful and perfect.

Advertising

Nowadays, there are a lot of products are produced for demands of all people. In order to sell more and more these products, many companies have to make ads to introduce and remind people about their products. But I really didn’t like these ads when I was watching a film on TV.

Some things have changed from last week. I saw an ad about Toyota car on TV. I liked it so much. It was a funny and interesting ad. The emotional appeal was humor. There was a couple who found many ways to be able to drive a Toyota car. So it made viewers think this car maybe is a wonderful car which was” a car to make your own”. (Tick on that link to see this ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWDQR3rns3I )

That’s great although it is a violence ad. If I had enough money, I would buy that car. After watching that ad, I think many people will buy that car, too. Do you think so?

Advertising all over the world

Companies are eager to sell their products all over the world, so they advertise them internationally. But it is difficult to create global advertising without taking cultural and language differences into consideration.  For example, the Japanese drink, "Calpis" is sold in the US as "Calpico" because "Calpis" sounds like "cow piss".

Read about some other examples in "Advertising Slogans Gone Wrong …" http://english-zone.com/language/ads.html and post a comment about this topic.

In writing new ads, global advertisers need to pay attention to cultural differences.  In some countries such as US. UK, and Germany, ads describe the product and explain why it is better than the others.  But in other countries such as Japan, ads create a positive feeling about the product.  As a result, celebrities often appear in Japanese advertisements.

The topic for your second essay is a TV commercial you love most.  First choose your favorite TV commercial from YouTube  http://www.youtube.com/ and link it to our blog.  Then describe the commercial, what message the producer is trying to convey to the audience, what feature impresses you most and if it shows your cultural features.
